Greetings Fellow Lions:
This is the second newsletter of our new Lionistic year.
July was an inspiring start to our "Beacon of Hope" year of service.
Some clubs held their induction of officers meetings and dinners. At some of these meetings new members were sworn in and joined our family of Lions. Congratulations to all those clubs who got off to a quick start to increasing membership. Only through a strong membership can our Service be seen and heard!
Congratulations also to Region Chair Shirley Wendler on her   becoming a Melvin Jones Fellow! Oyster Bay has chosen wisely!

July was also a month of exciting fund-raising events by Freeport, Rockville Centre, Baldwin and other clubs. Congratulations to Lion Tom Volpe and CS Fred Rieger on being the honorees of the Freeport Lions Sunset Cruise event.
July also saw the first organizational meeting of MERL\GMT.
We are focused on achieving our goals for membership. The Team was chaired by 1st VDG Stephen Dean. The future meeting dates will soon be posted on the website. The clubs participation in these meetings is the foundation of the spirit of strong membership!
And while we are mentioning the website, let's all applaud the wonderful service Webmaster Lion Steven Moskowitz is providing.
July concluded with 1st VDG Stephen and I attending the 1st Council of Governors meeting in Corning. The Multiple is addressing many significant issues regarding redistricting which will be discussed and reviewed at our Open District meeting on September 13th at Baldino’s.
Our Executive Officers have met informally several times during July in order to serve our district efficiently in the months ahead.
The month of July represented  new members, club fundraising events and administration planning for our year of Service.
August will be a natural time to celebrate together! The dog days of August is a prime time for Lions!
On Monday, August 9th, Nassau County will be honoring Lions for their contributions to Service! Enjoy a wonderful evening of music in honor of Harry Chapin at Eisenhower Park and join your fellow Lions who are being honored. This event is the creation
of 2nd VDG Sharon and a big ROAR to her for this achievement!
August is also the time for our annual Induction of Officers Dinner and Summer Social. Please view the Website or contact CT Rosemarie Marciano for further details. Please join us for a Magical Night of Dancing, Cuisine and Celebration.
As our District and clubs formulate their agendas for the year  let us go forward, Roaring together, for the benefit of those WE SERVE!
