NEW YORK MULTIPLE DISTRICT 20 April 27, 2011 To: Chairman of Multiple District Council of Governors District Governors of Multiple District Council From: PIP AI Brandel Lions Clubs International Re: Lions Clubs International Century of Service Commemorative Coin Act _____________________________________________________________________________________________ On behalf of Lions Clubs International, I am delighted to report that Congressman Peter Roskam (R-IL) has agreed to introduce the "Lions Clubs International Century of Service Commemorative Coin Act," a non-partisan bill to direct the US Mint to strike a $1.00 US currency coin commemorating the 100th anniversary of Lions Clubs International while highlighting the history and accomplishments of LCI with the proceeds of coin sales benefiting the visually impaired, disabled, youth and those affected by disaster. The bi-partisan bill has over a dozen original co-sponsors including the following Lions in Congress: Larry Kissell (D-NC); Grace Napolitano (D-CA); Jo Bonner (R-AL); Howard Coble (R-NC); Steve Stivers (R-OH); Jim Gerlach (R-PA); GT Thompson (R-PA). Lion Jerry Moran (R-KS) has agreed to be a leading sponsor on the Senate side. The bill will be introduced in the U.S. House of Representatives the first week of May and requires 290 co-sponsors and the Senate requires 67 co-sponsors for passage so we are asking you to:
