Dear Multiple District Leadership Development Chairperson,

As you know, the international theme for 2010-2011 is A Beacon of Hope.  International President Scruggs is urging Lions to rededicate themselves to meaningful service.  As a leader, you understand that only through quality leadership can we ensure that the service we provide to those in need will continue for years to come.   We must take responsibility for the development of our future leaders, and we must encourage our current leaders to continue to enhance their skills.

We would like to remind you about a valuable opportunity- the Multiple District Leadership Development Funding Support Program.  This program is designed to support training at the multiple district level of the first vice district governors and/orsecond vice district governors.  While the Leadership Division will provide guidance regarding specific topics to be included in these programs, the overall curriculum is determined by those responsible in the multiple district for training.  Training content must be designed to suit the specific needs of the multiple district. A variety of valuable curriculum resources can be accessed in the Leadership Resource Center via the Lions Clubs International website to support your local training efforts.

Funding for this unique program is limited so it is crucial that a completed Multiple District Leadership Development Funding Program Request Form (signature of the current council chairperson is required) be submitted to the Leadership Division as soon as your multiple district plans the vice district governors training.  Include the list of instructors' names, qualifications and topics to be presented along with a complete program outline.  During the 2009-2010 year, sixty-two multiple districts around the world applied for this program and it is our expectation to exceed that number in the coming year.
