Dear District Governor,

Here’s some very good news: district governors enthusiastically responded to my request to focus on membership during the first three months of their year of service. We are building a strong framework to sustain worldwide membership growth for years to come.  Thank you for your great cooperation and congratulations on your initial success.

I also want to ask you to support our “re-branding” efforts. To attract high-quality new members to our clubs we must be able to clearly articulate who we are and why we are important.  The eight core messages of the re-branding process are our way of doing that.  I ask every Lion leader to commit them to memory and to bring them to the attention of fellow Lions and the communities we serve.

Our eight core messages are:

  1. We are global.
  2. We serve where we live.
  3. We give 100 percent.
  4. We do it ourselves.
  5. We are rich in heritage and pride.
  6. We are in good company.
  7. We’re open.
  8. We are dedicated to sight – and more.

I hope that you are doing all you can to help the clubs of your district speak with pride these simple truths about Lions.  For further support you may direct them to the resources available at the Lions Clubs International Web site, (http://www.lionsclubs.org/EN/content/news_news_BrandFAQ.shtml) especially the brochure, “We Are Lions.” (http://www.lionsclubs.org/EN/content/pdfs/lions_brand_book.pdf)

The success of your membership plan depends on it.

As always, I thank you for all you do for the Lions of your district and our entire association.

Sincerely,

Al Brandel

International President
