GUYANESE-born Professor Dr. Shamir Ally and his
American wife, Dr. Maryann Ally, recently donated
another collection of 355 textbooks to the
University of Guyana library at its Turkeyen
campus, East Coast Demerara.
The textbooks, in the areas of Accounting,
Finance, Management and Economics, are valued at
US$35,500.
Dr. Ally, who completed his BBA, MBA and Ph.D in
the United States where he currently resides, has
always been a staunch supporter of the University
of Guyana library and his contributions to its
holdings have been invaluable.
For the past three years, Dr. Shamir and his wife
have donated 576 textbooks to the UG Library,
valued at approximately US$50,000, mostly in the
areas of Accounting, Finance, Management and
Economics.
The recent donation is their largest to date.
Laparkan, NY, shipped the textbooks at reduced
cost.
A very grateful library administration extended
sincere gratitude to Drs. Shamir and Maryann Ally
and, on behalf of the wider University community,
accepted their donation with thanks.
Dr. Ally, who is also President and Chief
Executive Officer of his company, International
Consulting and Financial Services in Pennsylvania
in the United States, with business/travles in 69
countries on five continents, is a firm believer
in education and the promotion of education.
